Week 10 - Initiate landing sequence

All crew on deck, prepare for touch down

The last two weeks of production!
Our dev-team has shifted the feature freeze back by one week to give us the opportunity to push a little more game into the game.

The art department, meanwhile, has been well underway getting everything visual implemented, helping out in blueprints where-ever possible.

Floaties, Stretchies, Twinkles and Sparkies

With most of the core mechanics gradually coming to life, at long last the time arrived to start adding the juice.
We added quite a bit of stuff to our character blueprint:

The oxygen supply is now visualized on the character to allow the player to focus on the game at all times.
In a power move that'll change the nature of information transfer for years to come, we've ranged the color scheme from blue-green (good) to red (not so good). Truly a visionary application of color psychology.

The keen eye will also notice the characters now tumble continuously around center mass, to convey the feeling of weightlessness and to accentuate their rotundity.

We were also able to implement our RFX when bouncing and using the weapon systems. Some more finetuning is in order, but we'll shift this to next week, when the dev-team will also be fully engaged in the polish stage.

What's on the menu?

When the polishing's good, the good get polishing.
While I'm sure the default UMG widget elements spark joy in even the most hardened game-dev veteran, we saw the opportunity to give our starting screen and player select menu just that little more love.

Untz, Untz, can't you just hear the techno-beat already? (Don't worry, it's in there!)

Players 1 and 2 are ready to rumble, stumble, fumble and tumble.

Requiem for a console

Unfortunately, due to the limited time-frame, we're dropping playstation controller support for now, to allow our devs to spend more time polishing the current feature set.
Keyboard and XBox controls are still supported.

Don't be shy, float on by

Please be warned, it's rough, but the concept is starting to peek through.
Give it a try!
